AT Carnet
Application for AT Carnet is compulsory for bringing in equipment into Malaysia. Clearing of equipment is immediate upon clarification from Malaysian customs.
Immigration
Anyone who enters Malaysia must declare valuables and may have to pay deposit. Nonprescribed drugs, pornographic material, weapons and any cloth bearing the imprint or reproduction of any verses of the “The Koran” are prohibited. Drug trafficking carries the death sentence.
Malaysia Identity
All commercials airing in Malaysia must obtain “Made-In-Malaysia” (MIM) certified from National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS)
Foreign Elements/Scenes (Applicable to TV commercials on air in Malaysia only)
Strong emphasis on the specialty of the origin country of the imported product is not allowed. Any reference made should only state the foreign country’s name. Words should not be used to suggest superior in terms of quality of a greater benefit. All scenes of shots must be done in Malaysia. If foreign footage is deemed necessary, only 30% of the total commercial footage is allowed and approval from Ministry must be obtained. However, foreign footage for advertisements on tourism to ASEAN countries can be 100% approved. Advertisements processing must be done in Malaysia. Satisfactory evidence of non-availability of such services must be produced before approval can be given and to obtain such services overseas. Musicals and other sound materials must be done in Malaysia.
